SPORTSMEN'S ALERT

At the December 11th, 2009 Wildlife Commission meeting, the DOW staff from the Denver office brought forth a policy for adoption that would allow the DOW to introduce Contraceptive Wildlife Management. This is not something new from them. They have tried it before back in the 80's. It was killed back then and it got killed again. The CMDA along with the Colorado Sportsmen's Wildlife Fund and the Colorado Outfitters Association has Position Statements against this type of Policy. This Policy could have far reaching impacts on the Hunting Heritage that we hold strongly to. Two of the Commissioners were pushing for adoption but it failed to pass. If it would have passed, there would have been a request for a formal hearing with the House and Senate Agriculture, Livestock & Natural Resources Committee. The following is CMDA's Position Statement.

FERTILITY CONTROL POLICY
TO Brad Coors, Chairman of the Wildlife Commission
We request you delay your decision on this issue of fertility control until such time as SAG and various sportsman have a chance to review  the recommendation. The CMDA has been opposed to this approach in the  past and is currently opposed. We are concerned that we have not been  included in any public discussion and are unaware of any public dialog. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully submitted,
Denny Behrens
